About SFX Maker
What it makes
- Whoosh: filtered noise that sweeps up and fades, for a punch-in, a fast-forward or a reveal.
- Tick: a short click, for a caption pop or a cut.
- Impact: a low thump with a little noise, for a hit, a fall or a freeze.
- Squeak: a rising wobble, for a comic tilt or a surprised look.
- Rewind: a falling, stuttering tone, for a replay.
- Pop: a soft pop, for a picture or a caption appearing.
- Riser: noise and a tone climbing together, for the seconds before a payoff.
- Bleep: a plain 1 kHz tone, the censor bleep.
The same sounds Sucia Studio makes on its Audio page, from the same code.
What the sliders do
- Length: how long it lasts, up to three seconds.
- Tone: dark to bright.
- Punch: a soft start and a slow fall, or a sharp start and a quick one.
- Pitch: low to high.
- Another take: a new variation of the noisy kinds. The same kind, sliders and take always give the same sound, so a file you downloaded can be made again.
How to use it
- Choose a kind and press Play. Move the sliders until it fits; press Another take for a different one.
- Download the WAV and drop it on your timeline in any editor, or on a caption, a cut or a freeze.
- The file is 16-bit mono at 48 kHz, the sample rate YouTube recommends for uploads; every editor opens it.
Questions
- Can I use these sounds in a monetised video?
- Yes. They are made on your device from noise and tones by a recipe; there is no sample library behind them, nothing to credit and no one else's recording in them.
- Why does Another take change nothing on some kinds?
- Squeak, rewind and bleep are pure tones with no noise in them, so a take sounds the same every time. Change the sliders instead.
- Is anything uploaded?
- No. The sound is made and saved in your browser.
